Good Shepherd Church has a long history of social action. After the Vietnam war, this church alone resettled over 300 Southeast Asians and also made intentional outreach to include persons with disabilities starting during this time. Good Shepherd was the first congregation in the synod to become a Reconciling in Christ congregation (2007) and an AMMPARO congregation (2017). Good Shepherd has historically been a leader in environmental sustainability and will become the synod’s first carbon neutral building in 2023. The Social Justice Committee meets monthly and works to inform the congregation about current issues of concern, in addition to planning a variety of activities within the congregation and the community to address social justice.
