The new chairs for the Solar Courtyard have arrived. Nine are set up for “inspection”. The remaining 55 chairs will be unwrapped and assembled during St. Grubby’s Day on Sunday, June 1.
The new chairs are made in Denmark. They are constructed of aluminum tubular frames and snap-on slats made from 90% post-consumer plastic and have bamboo armrests which match the tables. Bamboo is a highly sustainable material requiring minimal care requiring only warm water to clean. The chairs were purchased with a substantial discount from Jubilee, the furniture, housewares and design services store in downtown Decorah. They were purchased with a refund from the old chairs and donations.
The old courtyard chairs were first offered to congregation members and the remainder donated, half to the Depot and half to the Neighbors Helping Neighbors immigrant group.
