Join Jon Ailabouni on Sunday, February 24, for a presentation on jazz, faith, and worship. From the music of Duke Ellington and Mary Lou Williams to John Coltrane and Albert Ayler, jazz music has a long history of being explicitly tied to worship and spirituality. Jazz Service – Sunday, February 17, 2019

JAZZ SERVICEOn Sunday, February 17, Jon Ailabouni will lead the first of four monthly jazz worship services at Good Shepherd. The service will use his arrangements of familiar liturgy and hymns set in various jazz styles and feature Luther student musicians.

“When we bring jazz into worship, we engage as a faith community with an American musical tradition which expresses hope in the face of adversity, freedom within structure, and sophistication with soulfulness. I look forward to experiencing the intersection of this music with our faith lives together in worship.”
