Update on Luke Hanson
Luke Hanson, International Studies major and graduate of the Luther Class of 2014, recently sent an update on his ‘life after Luther.’ Luke worshiped at Good Shepherd many times while a student and provided an Adult Forum on his experiences in the Punjab last year. Some excerpts from his letter follow.
I have decided to spend the coming year as a volunteer in Rwanda through Young Adults in Global Mission (YAGM). YAGM is a program of the Lutheran Church (ELCA) that sends 19- to 29-year-olds to a number of countries to serve in communities in whatever ways those communities find most meaningful. I’ll fly from the U.S. on August 20th, and I’ll complete my term in late July of 2015.
If you like, you can read my blog, which I plan to update throughout the year. I would also be thrilled by the occasional email message (hanslu01@luther.edu) and your thoughts and prayers.
Contact Luke for information about supporting his experience in ELCA’s Young Adults in Global Mission program.

New Stoves!
The “new” Frigidaire stoves installed in the kitchen recently replace the older models which had been in that space for many years. Thanks to the Property and Management Committee, with input from the Kitchen Committee, for researching and making the purchases. Funds raised from the 25th anniversary celebration for kitchen enhancements were used for the updated equipment. The stoves each have a fifth warming burner, smooth cook tops, and self-cleaning ovens. The more functional of the old stoves replaced the worn out stove in the kitchen used by the pre-school.
Good Shepherd Joins Facebook!
A growing awareness about the powerful reach of Facebook has spurred the Communications Committee at Good Shepherd to work with webmaster Tabita Green to launch our very own Facebook site. Although it is a work in progress, it already has received many “likes” and will become an important communications vehicle for our congregation. The Committee is working on policies for the Facebook page. Click on the Facebook “f” logo on the Good Shepherd homepage to go directly to the Facebook page. Google+ is also available on the Good Shepherd homepage by clicking on the Google+ logo.
