November 1 Is All Saints Day

Sunday, November 1, is All Saint’s Day. We will light candles on the altar to honor all of the saints that have died and the saints that have been born in our congregation in the past year.  There will also be an opportunity for personal prayer, reflection and candle lighting to honor the other saints we remember on this day.

The gates in our weavings and the altar and pulpit paramemts have changed from bright red to white for this day in the life of the church.  The paraments were designed and woven by professional weaver and member Barbara Berg.

“Fall Flingers” Prepare Landscape Beds for Winter

Photo three

Saturday, October 24, the Luther College Student Congregation arranged a “Fall Fling” initiative to assist area residents with fall clean-up chores.  A crew of 12 students came to Good Shepherd to trim perennials in preparation for the winter season.  Many thanks to Melissa, Tori, Samantha, Grace, Elyse, Elizabeth, Genevieve, Rachel, Ben, Britany, Mikaela and Laura who are pictured enjoying treats afterwards. Good Shepherd members Jerry Frank and Reg Laursen supplied the pickup truck and trailer to haul away debris and emptied and put away hoses.  Members Jane Jakoubek, Elizabeth Kaschins, Jane Kemp, and Norma Refsal coordinated the effort.
